The other day someone told me an anecdote about Eno hearing Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” in the recording studio and saying “this is the future of dance music.” I thought: “Does anyone actually encounter something and say this is the future of —————”?! I thought back to some odd week or so years ago when, coincidentally, I heard several people say something like that about the first time they saw the web — and each time I thought fucking poseur. But this video is different, this is the future: canned ambient music playing over robo-generated anodyne maps showing where burning wreckage might fall from the sky.
