I bet you all think I’m like Trump 24/7, but those are just quickie breaks (mostly way too long, of course) from writing about — as someone once called it — the cold poetry of information. Lately I’m digging into the history of contrails (NOT chemtrails) — lots of military archival research. The more I read, the more I see how unfair the left’s lack of respect for the military is. Yes, really. It’s much more multifaceted and ambivalent than many people make out, an engine of oppression but also of liberation in different ways: research, education, meritocracy. And it’s not going away, so… But, anyway, here’s a gem I found: a chainmail runway torn loose in a blizzard in Alaska in 1944.
