Good for a quick laugh, but also one of those moments where humor is a needle and thread that draws together things that seem far apart but in fact are right next to each other. If multinationals had to open their books to state authority — like real people — the things that would come creeping and flying out would make Pandora’s Box look like a Pez dispenser. Next time you hear someone blather about Corporate Social Responsibility, think: Corporate Social Liability. As in, executives facing prison sentences whose length is extended to account for how their status extends their power to act.
