I’m glad to see one of the dailies with “New York” in its name thought this fire on 25th between 5th/6th Aves was big enough deserve coverage. There’s an allegory here but it’s not divine: it’s about how the various organs of cities now face outward — for example, ‘to attract investment’ — rather than in. The right to the city is a nice phrase, but when everyone (i.e., everyone who can afford it) has a right to every city…or was it about an abstract city like “New York”?
