“Ecocide as an international crime” podcast with Ute Meta Bauer interviewing Nabil Ahmed. I just finished several weeks of intense work with Nabil developing the next stages of his work. When we started his ideas seemed really impressive, but by the end I was convinced he’s identified a razor-sharp way to slice through (as Clare Boothe Luce’s put it) the globaloney that prevents polluters from being held to account. Ongoing climate disruption depends, amazingly, on a vague cloud of arguments that amount to “Gosh, the world is round so we couldn’t possibly figure out whose pollution went where!” Enough. If we can figure out how to time-share computers, condos, and jets, we can figure out how to apportion responsibility for a global catastrophe. 🎩 to Jussi Parikka for this podcast and the pointer.
