Trump & Co’s theory was that if they made an example of the Twin Cities, the rest of the country would cower in fear, but that isn’t working out at all. They can’t do this to the whole country, or even to more than a few mid-sized cities at a time. And with each repetition, the country learns more about these pathetic fascists and how to fight them. There aren’t many more escalatory steps Trump & Co can take before they open fire on an unarmed crowd, and I think they’ll do that soon. They probably hope that will be the opening gun of a civil war, but instead it’ll decisively mark the end of Trumpism — and the beginning of bringing this scum to justice.
